ABOUT THE JOB
The ESG Intern will join Roc Partners' Responsible Investment and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team, contributing to the integration of ESG principles both at the corporate level and across our three core investment streams: Direct (Agriculture & Growth), Multi-Strategy (funds, secondaries, co-investments), and Credit.
Reporting directly to the ESG Vice President and Senior Associate, this role offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to gain practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic private equity environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with a passionate team dedicated to advancing sustainability and responsible investment practices.
Based in Sydney, this rewarding and varied position would suit a candidate who is passionate about ESG and sustainability.
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- ESG Data Collection and Analysis: Support the collection, organisation and analysis of ESG data to drive performance improvements.
- ESG Reporting and Documentation: Assist in creating ESG reports and maintaining accurate records for stakeholders, regulatory compliance and internal use.
- Integration of Technology in ESG processes: Help implement and optimise technology solutions to streamline ESG data collection, reporting and analysis workflows.
- Benchmarking and Industry Research: Conduct competitive benchmarking and research emerging ESG trends and technologies to inform strategic decision-making.
- ESG DD: Conduct ESG due diligence on potential investment by researching industries, assessing risks and opportunities, and preparing summaries for investment committees.

Ideally you will have:

- Independent worker with collaborative mindset: You are able to work independently and take ownership over your work, even when the path isn’t clear, asking for guidance and collaborating when you need support.
- Proactive problem solver: You have a nous for anticipating and addressing issues and roadblocks, and take initiative to develop pragmatic solutions and actions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication: You're comfortable speaking up, sharing opinions and able to clearly and succinctly communicate your ideas. You are able to ‘read the room’ and engage with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Sharp analytical skills: You enjoy interpreting and transforming data into clear insights that drive action.
- Detail orientated: You enjoy getting into the thick of a project, whilst ensuring you focus your attention on what’s most important
Helpful but not essential:
- ESG Frameworks: Basic understanding of ESG frameworks, such as ESG Data Converge Initiative (EDCI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
- Financial analysis/private equity understanding: Understanding of core accounting principles and financial concepts
QUALIFICATIONS/CRITERIA

For those currently completing their undergraduate degree, the position is suitable for final year or penultimate year students (if the degree is longer than 3 years).
